No Alibi’s Stableford
Sunday 9th October
The club ran its first No Alibi`s competition last Sunday sponsored by O`Grady Crane Hire. As a new initiative it was generally well received, although there was some confusion when it came to recording scoring. Basically a players handicap was transferred into free shots,or Mulligans, which could be used at anytime during the round. Scoring was by modified stableford, e.g. a par resulted in two points, this seemed to favor the lower handicappers and it was to lead to fairly modest returns. At the end of the it was Niall Munroe (12) who came out on top with 32 points, one ahead of Thomas Cleary (9) who took the runner up spot on a countback from Terry O`Neill (10), who claimed Div 1, and Keith Bracken (14), who claimed Div 2. Denis Breen (18) only required 27 points for Div 3 honours. Competition Secretary Andrew O`Neill (20) was the Div 4 winner with 30 points.
Its back to normal next weekend with a single stableford sponsored by Expert, Tullamore. This event is also the final of the “Free Sub” competition.
