JD Scanlon & Company Fourball 10th April 2016
Competitors in last weekends Fourball competition had to be well wrapped up as they battled against a biting easterly wind. The pairing of Pat Farrell & Patrick Conroy prevailed with 44pts to take first place. John Lowbridge & Martin Kelly took second on countback with 42pts. Third place went to Denis Meredith & Aidan Geoghegan 42pts also on a countback. This event was the qualifier for the club Fourball matchplay, and sixteen pairs scored 39pts or better to qualify for the knock out stage. The draw sheet will be on the notice board shortly.
On Sunday the Irish Mixed Foresomes team up were up against Glasson. Two matches were lost at the lakeside venue. It was a very close affair at home. One match was secured in regulation play, but the other two were both tied after 18. Unfortunately it was the Glasson pair duly won the decisive point on the first sudden death hole to progress. A great effort from an under strength Castle Barna team.
The Walsh Kealy sponsored 9 hole league kicked off last Thursday evening. Collecting 13 points (10 for winning + 3 for entering) to lead the league after round one was that 9 hole expert, Mr. Liam Lynch. This event will run every Thursday until September with lots of prizes on offer when the final points are tallied.
