Single Stableford Competition
Sponsored by Kenny Lyons & Associates

The beautiful weather attracted a good entry for last weekends single stableford competition sponsored by Kenny Lyons & Associates. Mark Farrell (11) made a return to the winners enclosure with a very good 42pts, but only after a countback that went all the way to the back 3. The unlucky runner up was Gerard Ennis (15). Both these players are displaying some great early season form. With most of the opposition absent due to exhaustion from the previous days Junior Cup, the way was clear for Shay Egan (5) to take the Div 1 prize with a modest 35pts. Div 2 went the way of Ken Fitzpatrick (14) with 37pts. Matt Curran (17) had a good day to claim to Div 3 prize with 41pts, and it was also a good day for Brian McRedmond (26) as his 38pts was best in Div 4.
The Junior Cup qualifier was held in Rathcore on Saturday. There was no joy for the Castle Barna team on a course that was playing every inch of its maximum length. Very few scores under 80 were recorded from all the teams in action.
There was better news from the Irish Fourball Team who faced Craddockstown on Sunday. When one match was won and one lost at home, things looked bleak. But the pairings at the Naas venue dug deep and secured the two wins needed, with the final match called in with our lads three up. A great performance by Seamie Feery`s men who continue with their impressive march in this all Ireland competition.
Thursday Open Singles was won by visitor Patrick Carroll.
The Walsh Kealy 9 Hole Championship attracted its biggest entry to date. The winner after a three way tie was Mickey Dunne ahead of Pat Rogers and league leader Liam Lynch.
For something a little different, next weekends competition is a 3 ball Waltz, which will be sponsored by TSB Bank.
