Men’s 18 Hole Single Stroke
Brian Merrick (18) must have discovered that missing golf link as he recorded his second overall victory in two weeks during last weekends single stroke competition sponsored by Kenny Lyons & Associates. The Edenderry man shot a net 70 with a better back nine that edged out Denis Breen (18) on a countback. 3rd net went to Ballinagar`s Conor Corcoran (17) with 71. Mark Farrell (8) took the gross prize with 82.
Damien Mangan was the winner in last Thursdays Open. His 39pts being one better than runner up Derek Hannon.
The Tudenham Cup Team lost out in an exciting semi final against Delvin Castle by the narrowest of margins on Sunday. At home Robert Hogan & Dan Cunningham were in outstanding form and had their match wrapped up by the 12th. Dan Shaughnessy & Seanie Geoghegan tried hard but in the end ran out of holes. Michael Brereton & Stephen Egan rallied superbly after going one down on the 16th. They squared the match on the 17th and shared the 18th to send their game into extra holes. It took a super chip in birdie by Stephen to half the first, before the Delvin pair both found water on the second to hand the home side a second win. Over in Delvin Shay Egan & Mick Carey lost out on the 17th. It was all down to the final game where Declan Rogers & Sean Ryan came from behind to win the 18th to go all square and send the decider into extra holes. A brave effort came up just short when the home side prevailed on the 20th.
