Castle Barna Golf Club: Derek Hannon (0) clinched his third Club Championship on Sunday. An excellent four under 68 over the opening 18 allowed him to relax over the third nine for a 105 total, 8 shots clear of runner up David Brazil. There was some consolation for David as he was declared the winner of the Shap Mangan GOY Trophy.
The overall GOY winner for the year was Bracklin`s Joe Mann who got his just reward after competing in every one of the 12 qualifiers, and scoring consistently in his best eight.
Alongside the Club Championship there was the Stewart`s Cup. Last man on the course, Terry Carroll (20), produced a great 43 Pts to claim victory. Terry was adamant that he only played 18 holes. Runner up and showing good form of late was Stephen Harte (13) after a good 42 Pts. Div 1 went to Terry O`Neill (10) with 36 Pts, the same score saw Dominic Goodings (14) take Div 2. Brian Dunne (16) shot 40 Pts to top Div 3. Jimmy Slattery (23) claimed the Div 4 honours with 38 Pts.
